Air Cons: Ins and Outs
South Africa is renowned for many things, and foremost on the list is its fantastic weather conditions. Sunny-South-Africa, as it is commonly referred to, has some of the warmest summer temperatures in summer, while still having relatively pleasant whether in some parts during winter. It is no wonder tourists flock to our shores at any point during the year. The heat makes it easy to enjoy some of our famous natural heritage sites and the warm Indian Ocean waters, or even take a hike and enjoy some of our majestic scenery. But when it is time to go back inside, we are grateful for the air conditioners that regulate the heat, which can at times become oppressive. Here are some of the ins and outs of this amazing invention. We have William Carrier to thank for the air conditioner as it was him who first created this marvel in 1902. Interestingly enough, his initial intention was to crack a solution to the humidity that was a hindrance to the printing process at the printing company he worked for. Not only did he find the solution to this issue, but he also managed to cool the temperatures in the factory, and thus created what has become a source of comfort and relief for millions of people the world over. But with the comfort comes a level of responsibility that most people are unaware of when they install their air conditioning systems. It is important that your air conditioner is regularly tuned, and the air filters unclogged in order to avoid health problems such as the flu, poor hearing and a host of other diseases that are associated with poorly maintained air conditioning systems. It has also been proven that setting your air conditioner above 25 degrees also alleviates some of these issues, whilst helping the environment, due to the fact that less refrigerant gasses are emitted into the air. You should try as much as possible to switch off the air conditioner while you sleep and to find other cooling-down methods in order to decrease your energy assumption. Air conditioners are meant to be enjoyed, and used responsibly.
